U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.04%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.04% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index added 0.42%, and the NASDAQ Composite index climbed 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL ), which rose 2.24% or 5.11 points to trade at 232.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD ) added 1.42% or 5.67 points to end at 405.20 and Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX ) was up 1.22% or 1.78 points to 147.27 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA ), which fell 2.74% or 4.28 points to trade at 152.04 at the close. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC ) declined 1.88% or 0.45 points to end at 23.46 and Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE ) was down 1.16% or 1.04 points to 88.40.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Generac Holdings Inc (NYSE:GNRC ) which rose 2.61% to 158.88, Intuitive Surgical Inc (NASDAQ:ISRG ) which was up 2.52% to settle at 491.27 and CVS Health Corp (NYSE:CVS ) which gained 2.44% to close at 62.88.

The worst performers were Jacobs Engineering Group Inc (NYSE:J ) which was down 15.84% to 130.90 in late trade, Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:DLTR ) which lost 3.83% to settle at 70.32 and Ulta Beauty Inc (NASDAQ:ULTA ) which was down 3.69% to 389.12 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Lixiang Education Holding Co Ltd (NASDAQ:LXEH ) which rose 1,450.94% to 4.11, Sonnet Biotherapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:SONN ) which was up 842.78% to settle at 6.69 and Fangdd Network Group Ltd (NASDAQ:DUO ) which gained 146.03% to close at 3.10.

The worst performers were XChange TECINC DRC (NASDAQ:XHG ) which was down 70.22% to 0.29 in late trade, Paranovus Entertainment Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:PAVS ) which lost 46.67% to settle at 0.48 and Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX ) which was down 34.35% to 0.11 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1531 to 1300 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1651 rose and 1633 declined, while 129 ended unchanged.

Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:BA ) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.74% or 4.28 to 152.04. Shares in Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD ) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.42% or 5.67 to 405.20. Shares in XChange TECINC DRC (NASDAQ:XHG ) fell to all time lows; falling 70.22% or 0.68 to 0.29. Shares in Paranovus Entertainment Technology Ltd (NASDAQ:PAVS ) fell to all time lows; losing 46.67% or 0.42 to 0.48. Shares in Fangdd Network Group Ltd (NASDAQ:DUO ) rose to 52-week highs; up 146.03% or 1.84 to 3.10. Shares in Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX ) fell to all time lows; down 34.35% or 0.06 to 0.11.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.36% to 16.73.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.51% or 13.60 to $2,654.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.26% or 0.18 to hit $68.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.37 to trade at $71.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.11, while USD/JPY rose 1.07% to 143.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 100.50.
