U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.72%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications , Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Mining sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.72%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT ), which rose 1.24% or 57.00 points to trade at 4,667.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV ) added 1.19% or 8.00 points to end at 681.20 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF ) was up 1.15% or 3.70 points to 326.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD ), which fell 5.95% or 9.50 points to trade at 150.20 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO ) declined 4.59% or 17.50 points to end at 364.00 and Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM ) was down 2.89% or 134.00 points to 4,498.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1048 to 724 and 695 ended unchanged.

Shares in Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO ) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.59% or 17.50 to 364.00. Shares in Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF ) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.15% or 3.70 to 326.60.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 4.95 to $2,597.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.63% or 0.44 to hit $69.52 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.47 to trade at $73.23 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.32, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 100.60.
