U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.11%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications , Oil & Gas Producers and Beverage sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.11%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF ), which rose 6.93% or 1,185.00 points to trade at 18,285.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO ) added 4.47% or 16.10 points to end at 376.70 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES ) was up 3.42% or 20.50 points to 619.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU ), which fell 3.40% or 22.60 points to trade at 642.20 at the close. BP PLC (LON:BP ) declined 2.41% or 9.90 points to end at 400.25 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN ) was down 2.41% or 40.50 points to 1,641.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 965 to 825 and 685 ended unchanged.

Shares in Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF ) rose to all time highs; up 6.93% or 1,185.00 to 18,285.00.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 3.20 to $2,680.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.21% or 1.58 to hit $69.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.75% or 1.30 to trade at $73.17 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.56% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 100.53.
