U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.94%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation , Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.94%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR ), which rose 5.85% or 29.00 points to trade at 525.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES ) added 4.53% or 25.50 points to end at 588.50 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO ) was up 4.53% or 80.50 points to 1,858.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SSE PLC (LON:SSE ), which fell 2.73% or 54.50 points to trade at 1,942.00 at the close. National Grid PLC (LON:NG ) declined 2.62% or 27.50 points to end at 1,023.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD ) was down 2.46% or 1.92 points to 76.16.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1262 to 551 and 657 ended unchanged.

Shares in Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.85% or 29.00 to 525.00.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 16.85 to $2,615.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.18% or 1.52 to hit $71.40 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.91% or 1.41 to trade at $75.06 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 100.45.
