U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.25%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining , Life Insurance/Assurance and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL ), which rose 6.64% or 141.00 points to trade at 2,263.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO ) added 6.30% or 115.00 points to end at 1,940.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO ) was up 4.55% or 219.50 points to 5,049.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN ), which fell 5.22% or 95.00 points to trade at 1,725.00 at the close. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV ) declined 1.85% or 25.00 points to end at 1,327.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH ) was down 1.47% or 40.00 points to 2,688.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 940 to 848 and 680 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.79% or 20.90 to $2,673.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.42% or 1.00 to hit $71.37 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.46% or 1.07 to trade at $74.28 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 100.27.
