Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

The 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 453.85 points at 72643.43

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Friday's session.

Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 5.26%), SJVN Ltd.(up 5.02%), Reliance Power Ltd.(up 4.99%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(up 4.96%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 4.92%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 4.79%), JSW Energy Ltd.(up 4.42%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 3.85%), Inox Wind Ltd.(up 3.73%) and Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(up 3.65%) stood among the top gainers.

Karma Energy Ltd.(down 5.00%), NLC India Ltd.(down 3.20%), KEC International Ltd.(down 2.88%), NHPC Ltd.(down 2.47%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(down 2.44%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(down 1.91%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(down 1.86%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.73%), Energy Development Company Ltd.(down 1.72%) and Adani Power Ltd.(down 1.39%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 123.31 points down at 22023.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 453.85 points at 72643.43.

UPL Ltd.(up 2.83%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 2.13%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 1.83%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.63%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(up 1.45%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 1.39%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 1.2%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 1.16%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.72%) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 0.64%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 4.82%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 3.67%), Coal India Ltd.(down 2.92%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.27%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(down 1.97%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.93%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.91%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.73%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.71%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.41%) closed in the red.
