Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.24% in an upbeat market

Sanofi India Ltd.(down 0.56 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(down 0.15 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 1.24 per cent at 18589.5 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 234.96 points at 22074.05, while the BSE Sensex was up 744.45 points at 72846.14.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 48 were trading in the green, while 2 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, SAIL, Tata Steel and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of eMudhra, Rico Auto, Salzer Electro, Thermax and Macpower CNC Machine hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Medico Remedies, Vaxtex Cotfab, Bohra Industries, M K Proteins and SCI Land and Assets hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
