Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.16% in an upbeat market

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.88 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.44 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.07 per cent) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.05 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.16 per cent at 33661.8 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 97.0 points at 22465.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 345.33 points at 74083.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 39 were trading in the green, while 11 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, Indian Railway Fin and South Indian Bnk were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Raj Oil Mills, Yuken India, Geojit Financial, Aegis Logistics and Data Patterns(India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Atal Realtech, Impex Ferro Tech, NBI Industrial, 3rd Rock MultiMedia and GIR Natureview hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
