Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.99% in a weak market

ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.55 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.51 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.3 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.95 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was down 0.99 per cent at 48657.65 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 155.46 points at 22732.7, while the BSE Sensex was down 514.61 points at 74655.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 9 were trading in the green, while 41 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, NHPC, YES Bank and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Excel Realty N Infra, Paras Defence, Grindwell Norton, JITF Infralogistics and IRIS Business Services hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Monte Carlo Fashion, Revathi Equipment, Osia Hyper Retail, Priti International and Signpost India hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
