Stock market update: Nifty Bank index  advances  1.07%

The Nifty Bank index closed 1.07 per cent up at 47574.15.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Friday.

Shares of HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 2.45 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 1.12 per cent), State Bank of India(up 0.76 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.52 per cent) and Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.5 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 1.04 per cent), Punjab National Bank(down 1.01 per cent), IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 0.91 per cent), Bank of Baroda(down 0.8 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 0.2 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 1.07 per cent up at 47574.15.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 151.16 points at 22147.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 599.34 points at 73088.33.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 ended in the green, while 21 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, Tata Steel and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of KM Sugar Mills, Eldeco Housing, Solara Active Pharma, Hindustan Motor and Force Motors hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sumeet Ind, Ibull Housing Fin(PP), MEP Infrastructure, Future Supply Chain and Bata India hit their fresh 52-week lows.
