Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.66% in an upbeat market

Bank of Baroda(down 0.6 per cent) and Axis Bank Ltd.(down 0.36 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was up 0.66 per cent at 49296.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 35.56 points at 22992.65, while the BSE Sensex was up 198.31 points at 75608.7.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, Rail Vikas Nigam and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ujaas Energy, Ashima Ltd, JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, M M Forgings and Elgi Rubber Co hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Best Agrolife, IKIO Lighting, Sintex Plastics Tech, Revathi Equipment and Morarjee Text hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
