Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 3.33%
The Nifty Auto index closed 3.33 per cent down at 23193.3.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.Shares of Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 2.91 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 12.16 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 10.08 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 9.8 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 5.3 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 5.13 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 3.33 per cent down at 23193.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 1379.41 points at 21884.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 4389.73 points at 72079.05.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 42 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, BEL and RattanIndia Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Heritage Foods, E2E Networks, Ujaas Energy, Viceroy Hotels and TCI Finance hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Bodhi Tree Multimedia, Ibull Housing Fin(PP), Nirvikara Paper Mill, Signpost India and Vaibhav Global hit their fresh 52-week lows.
