Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.62% in an upbeat market

Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.91 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 1.56 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.12 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.94 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.62 per cent at 23743.7 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 12.61 points at 22969.7, while the BSE Sensex was up 97.24 points at 75507.63.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, NHPC and Rail Vikas Nigam were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ujaas Energy, Ashima Ltd, JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Balaxi Pharma and Astra Microwave hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Best Agrolife, IKIO Lighting, Sintex Plastics Tech, Revathi Equipment and Morarjee Text hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
