Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.45%

On the other hand, MRF Ltd.(down 3.17 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.52 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 1.51 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 1.4 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.66 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.45 per cent down at 20354.1.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 238.25 points at 21817.45, while the BSE Sensex stood down 736.37 points at 72012.05.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 10 ended in the green, while 40 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Steel, NHPC and Indian Oil Corp. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nagreeka Export, D P Abhushan, The Anup Engg, Cubex Tubings and Hercules Hoists hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Akshar Spintex, Future Supply Chain, Vaxtex Cotfab, Mukka Proteins and Sintex Plastics Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
