Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.22% in a weak market

Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.35 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.97 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.95 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.53 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.47 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.22 per cent at 21000.4 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 59.75 points at 22037.0, while the BSE Sensex was down 267.71 points at 72564.23.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, Tata Steel and Indus Towers were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Onelife Capital, Deep Industries, Time Technoplast, Apar Industries and Wonder Fibromats hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Compuage Infocom, SCI Land and Assets, Infomedia Press, Penta Gold and Medico Remedies hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
