Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.16%

On the other hand, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 3.09 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.81 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.41 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.16 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.88 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.16 per cent down at 21385.25.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 135.1 points at 22462.0, while the BSE Sensex stood up 363.2 points at 74014.55.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 ended in the green, while 19 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Steel, NHPC and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Nupur Recyclers, Action Const., Hind Copper, Cochin Shipyard and Onelife Capital hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while FutureLifestyleFash, Penta Gold, SVP Global, Vinati Organics and Mask Investments hit their fresh 52-week lows.
