Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.54% in an upbeat market

Bosch Ltd.(down 0.9 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.53 per cent) and Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 0.21 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 1.54 per cent at 23240.25 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 54.71 points at 22458.55, while the BSE Sensex was up 244.95 points at 73908.67.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, RattanIndia Power, BEL and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Indian Hume Pipe, Crompton Greaves, ISMT Ltd, Cords Cable Ind and Kirloskar Elec hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Brightcom Group, BKM Industries, Thomas Scott, Eurotex Ind and N K Industries hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
