Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.58% in a weak market

TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.93 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 1.71 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 1.4 per cent), Tube Investments of India Ltd.(down 1.03 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.03 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.58 per cent at 20308.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 24.2 points at 21999.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 71.22 points at 72572.21.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Tata Steel and SJVN were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Reliance Infra, Linde India, Somi Conveyor, Cubex Tubings and Rolta India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Prudential Sugar, Vaxtex Cotfab, Omkar Speciality, Stampede Cap(DVR)and Radaan Media hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
