Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.55% in an upbeat market

Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 1.09 per cent), Bharat Forge Ltd.(down 0.64 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.6 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 0.5 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.36 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.55 per cent at 20450.55 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 87.4 points at 22085.1, while the BSE Sensex was up 198.42 points at 72960.31.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, Indian Railway Fin and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Somi Conveyor, Diamond Power, Modern Threads(India)Ltd., Tarapur Trans and Bharat Highways InvI hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Shyam Telecom, Sanco Industries, Osia Hyper Retail, Mukka Proteins and BGR Energy hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
