Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.36% in an upbeat market

Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.79 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.22 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.96 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.41 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.28 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.36 per cent at 24370.15 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 169.5 points at 22789.85, while the BSE Sensex was up 523.19 points at 74905.43.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, BHEL and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Minda Ind., KCP Ltd, Bhagiradha Chem, Nava Bharat Vent. and PTC Industries hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Sintex Plastics Tech, Visagar Polytex, Lakshmi Precis, Compuage Infocom and SecUR Credentials hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
