Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Auto , Banking and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.41%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL ), which rose 2.85% or 28.50 points to trade at 1,030.05 at the close. Meanwhile, LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM ) added 1.76% or 108.25 points to end at 6,244.35 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC ) was up 1.44% or 6.30 points to 443.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM ), which fell 4.11% or 244.95 points to trade at 5,712.40 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI ) declined 3.25% or 99.20 points to end at 2,953.15 and Axis Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK ) was down 3.22% or 40.95 points to 1,232.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL ) which rose 2.86% to 1,030.45, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC ) which was up 1.25% to settle at 443.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC ) which gained 1.08% to close at 168.30.
The worst performers were Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK ) which was down 3.15% to 1,232.10 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI ) which lost 3.09% to settle at 2,957.95 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK ) which was down 2.56% to 1,273.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1493 to 1011 and 102 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2072 fell and 1789 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL ) rose to all time highs; up 2.85% or 28.50 to 1,030.05. Shares in NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC ) rose to all time highs; rising 1.44% or 6.30 to 443.20. Shares in JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL ) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.86% or 28.70 to 1,030.45. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC ) rose to all time highs; up 1.25% or 5.45 to 443.00.
The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.90% to 12.79.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.18% or 4.75 to $2,663.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $68.18 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.09 to trade at $71.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 83.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.32% to 93.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.08.
