India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.14%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate , Banking and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.31%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL ), which rose 6.43% or 22.20 points to trade at 367.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL ) added 3.13% or 50.70 points to end at 1,672.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN ) was up 2.65% or 50.30 points to 1,948.70 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD ), which fell 3.06% or 11.20 points to trade at 354.25 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI ) declined 2.06% or 36.50 points to end at 1,734.60 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK ) was down 1.73% or 30.80 points to 1,752.65.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN ) which rose 2.67% to 1,949.00, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN ) which was up 1.58% to settle at 3,817.00 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC ) which gained 1.51% to close at 440.95.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD ) which was down 2.75% to 355.20 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK ) which lost 1.80% to settle at 1,307.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI ) which was down 1.74% to 1,739.15 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1273 to 1226 and 84 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1883 fell and 1882 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL ) rose to all time highs; up 6.43% or 22.20 to 367.30. Shares in Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL ) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.13% or 50.70 to 1,672.50. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN ) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.65% or 50.30 to 1,948.70. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN ) rose to all time highs; rising 2.67% or 50.60 to 1,949.00. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC ) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.51% or 6.55 to 440.95.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.62% to 11.93.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.30% or 8.00 to $2,686.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.35% or 0.24 to hit $67.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.19 to trade at $71.28 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.08% to 83.69, while EUR/INR rose 0.03% to 93.47.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 100.16.
