India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.57%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.57% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.45%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM ), which rose 3.35% or 98.95 points to trade at 3,049.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA ) added 3.33% or 397.25 points to end at 12,338.95 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC ) was up 3.21% or 9.20 points to 295.45 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH ), which fell 1.68% or 83.60 points to trade at 4,879.55 at the close. Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI ) declined 1.43% or 77.90 points to end at 5,372.85 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK ) was down 1.24% or 16.55 points to 1,321.90.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM ) which rose 3.18% to 3,046.20, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI ) which was up 2.35% to settle at 800.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI ) which gained 2.26% to close at 1,751.00.

The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK ) which was down 1.27% to 1,323.20 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK ) which lost 1.05% to settle at 1,463.70 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN ) which was down 1.02% to 3,275.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1550 to 988 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2240 rose and 1687 declined, while 119 ended unchanged.

Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM ) rose to all time highs; up 3.35% or 98.95 to 3,049.80. Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA ) rose to all time highs; rising 3.33% or 397.25 to 12,338.95. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM ) rose to all time highs; up 3.18% or 93.95 to 3,046.20. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI ) rose to all time highs; up 2.26% or 38.70 to 1,751.00.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.86% to 13.80.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.60 to $2,646.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.22 to trade at $73.91 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.09% to 83.55, while EUR/INR fell 0.36% to 92.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 100.70.
