Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.95%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.95% to hit a new all time high.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (BVMF:PETR3 ), which rose 8.86% or 3.49 points to trade at 42.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (BVMF:PETR4 ) added 7.24% or 2.67 points to end at 39.56 and Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3 ) was up 3.95% or 1.16 points to 30.51 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3 ), which fell 7.56% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.08 at the close. RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (BVMF:RAIL3 ) declined 3.09% or 0.73 points to end at 22.88 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3 ) was down 2.57% or 0.35 points to 13.27.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 508 to 448 and 61 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 17.09% to 26.24.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 8.35 to $2,554.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.01% or 2.25 to hit $77.08 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 2.79% or 6.78 to trade at $249.68 .

USD/BRL was up 0.25% to 5.50, while EUR/BRL fell 1.37% to 6.13.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 100.77.
