Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications , Mobile Telecommunications and Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were IMI PLC (LON:IMI ), which rose 5.43% or 90.00 points to trade at 1,749.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO ) added 4.75% or 82.00 points to end at 1,808.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL ) was up 3.64% or 87.00 points to 2,479.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA ), which fell 7.16% or 60.40 points to trade at 783.00 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY ) declined 4.11% or 11.00 points to end at 256.80 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR ) was down 3.69% or 21.20 points to 552.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1131 to 695 and 628 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.05% or 28.10 to $2,704.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.60% or 0.43 to hit $72.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.52 to trade at $75.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.78% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 104.32.
