U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.52%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining , Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.52%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV ), which rose 6.05% or 40.50 points to trade at 710.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO ) added 4.91% or 85.00 points to end at 1,815.50 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES ) was up 4.65% or 30.50 points to 686.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB ), which fell 2.58% or 77.00 points to trade at 2,911.00 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES ) declined 2.48% or 30.50 points to end at 1,199.00 and InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG ) was down 2.42% or 245.00 points to 9,900.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 996 to 833 and 599 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.13% or 30.04 to $2,689.64 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.85% or 1.24 to hit $68.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 1.15 to trade at $72.27 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 105.67.
