Stock market update: Sugar stocks mixed as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Tuesday's session.Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd.(up 3.77%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd.(up 1.85%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(up 1.56%), Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd.(up 1.22%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd.(up 0.95%), Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd.(up 0.69%), Mawana Sugars Ltd.(up 0.32%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(up 0.27%), Rana Sugars Ltd.(up 0.23%) and KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(up 0.13%) stood among the top gainers.
KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 9.93%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 2.31%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 1.37%), Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 0.63%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd.(down 0.47%), DCM Shriram Industries Ltd.(down 0.38%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 0.35%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 0.31%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd.(down 0.24%) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 0.07%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 31.6 points up at 22368.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 89.83 points at 73738.45.
Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 3.93%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 3.46%), Nestle India Ltd.(up 1.74%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.65%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.42%), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 1.36%), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.24%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 1.2%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 1.17%) and LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.01%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 3.61%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.74%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(down 1.39%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.35%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 1.1%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.07%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.8%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 0.7%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.65%) and Cipla Ltd.(down 0.61%) closed in the red.
