Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

Ugar Sugar Works Ltd.(down 5.58%), Rana Sugars Ltd.(down 4.67%), EID Parry(India)Ltd.(down 4.25%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd.(down 3.89%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd.(down 3.82%), KM Sugar Mills Ltd.(down 3.66%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd.(down 3.65%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)Ltd.(down 3.44%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd.(down 3.37%) and Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd.(down 3.32%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 3.05 points up at 22335.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 165.32 points at 73667.96.

HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 2.23%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.7%), LTIMindtree Ltd.(up 1.69%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.01%), Infosys Ltd.(up 0.78%), Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.71%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.64%), Reliance Industries Ltd.(up 0.61%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.26%) and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.12%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 2.65%), Cipla Ltd.(down 2.55%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 2.37%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 1.94%), State Bank of India(down 1.81%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.53%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 1.45%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(down 1.39%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.34%) and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.32%) closed in the red.
