Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.24%
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.24 per cent down at 18361.4.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.Shares of Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 2.72 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.38 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.25 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.47 per cent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 0.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 4.07 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(down 2.14 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 2.12 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.8 per cent) and Cipla Ltd.(down 1.28 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.24 per cent down at 18361.4.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 21.65 points at 21839.1, while the BSE Sensex stood up 89.64 points at 72101.69.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Steel, NHPC and Jio Financial Servic were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of D P Abhushan, Cubex Tubings, CG Power & Ind., Popular Vehicles and Maruti Suzuki hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SITI Networks, IIFL Finance, Vaxtex Cotfab, Bohra Industries and SCI Land and Assets hit their fresh 52-week lows.
