Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.77%

On the other hand, Mankind Pharma Ltd.(down 2.56 per cent), J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.12 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 1.04 per cent) and Biocon Ltd.(down 0.78 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.77 per cent up at 18939.0.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 48.85 points at 22104.05, while the BSE Sensex stood up 111.66 points at 72776.13.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 ended in the green, while 24 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Zomato, IDFC First Bank and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Smartlink Holdings, D-Link(India), ABB India, Hindustan Zinc and Kapston Facilities hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Filatex Fash, Medico Remedies, Morarjee Text, GSS Infotech and Brightcom Group hit their fresh 52-week lows.
