Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.25%

On the other hand, Abbott India Ltd.(down 2.2 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(down 0.98 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(down 0.82 per cent) and Lupin Ltd.(down 0.22 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.25 per cent up at 18815.6.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 84.8 points at 22096.75, while the BSE Sensex stood up 190.75 points at 72831.94.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, NHPC and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of eMudhra, Vadilal Ind, The Hi-Tech Gears, Shriram Pistons and Star Cement hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Medico Remedies, SCI Land and Assets, Compuage Infocom, M K Proteins and Future Supply Chain hit their fresh 52-week lows.
