Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.21%
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.21 per cent up at 18996.15.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Thursday.Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 3.56 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(up 2.95 per cent), Ipca Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.67 per cent), Cipla Ltd.(up 2.3 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 2.3 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 2.21 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.25 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.42 per cent) and Pfizer Ltd.(down 0.23 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 1.21 per cent up at 18996.15.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 203.25 points at 22326.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 655.04 points at 73651.35.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 ended in the green, while 7 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank, YES Bank, NHPC and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Onelife Capital, IFB Industries, Dynacons Sys, Wonderla Holidays and Century Texttiles hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SITI Networks, Camlin Fine Sc, Dwarikesh Sugar, Nureca Ltd and Sintex Plastics Tech hit their fresh 52-week lows.
