Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 1.1% in an upbeat market

Sanofi India Ltd.(down 1.6 per cent) and J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 0.98 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 1.1 per cent at 18638.95 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 169.05 points at 22126.55, while the BSE Sensex was up 523.13 points at 72927.3.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, IDFC First Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Hindustan Zinc, Tara Chand Logistic, Dolphin Offshore, Smartlink Holdings and Vijaya Diagnostic hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Lakshmi Precis, Popular Vehicles, Keerti Knowledge, S & S Power Switch and Gillanders Arbu hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
