Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.7% in an upbeat market

Biocon Ltd.(down 4.01 per cent), Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.46 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 1.14 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.02 per cent) and Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(down 1.0 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.7 per cent at 19253.95 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 12.55 points at 22944.55, while the BSE Sensex was up 25.64 points at 75436.03.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 30 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, NHPC and Rail Vikas Nigam were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Ujaas Energy, Ashima Ltd, JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Astra Microwave and Elgi Rubber Co hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Best Agrolife, IKIO Lighting, Sintex Plastics Tech, Revathi Equipment and Morarjee Text hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
