Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.66% in a weak market

J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.67 per cent), Mankind Pharma Ltd.(down 1.11 per cent), Abbott India Ltd.(down 0.32 per cent), Gland Pharma Ltd.(down 0.25 per cent) and Granules India Ltd.(down 0.04 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.66 per cent at 20325.3 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 116.36 points at 24185.8, while the BSE Sensex was down 496.05 points at 79553.62.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, NBCC , Rail Vikas Nigam and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Landmark Prop, Ahluwalia Contracts, BEML, Kothari Prod and Shilpa Medicare hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Supply Chain, Shree Ram Proteins, Viji Finance, Alps Industries and Praxis Home Retail hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
