Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.64% in a weak market

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.78 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.11 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.69 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 0.67 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.65 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.64 per cent at 33664.1 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 167.56 points at 22720.6, while the BSE Sensex was down 549.91 points at 74620.54.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, NHPC, YES Bank and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Excel Realty N Infra, Grindwell Norton, Paras Defence, JITF Infralogistics and IRIS Business Services hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Monte Carlo Fashion, Revathi Equipment, Osia Hyper Retail, Priti International and Future Supply Chain hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
