Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.59% in a weak market

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.18 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 1.01 per cent), Infosys Ltd.(down 0.83 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 0.8 per cent) and L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 0.55 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.59 per cent at 33241.45 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 35.75 points at 22466.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 216.25 points at 73789.69.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, BEL, Indian Railway Fin and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bharat Bijlee, Rolex Rings, GRP Ltd, Sudarshan Chemical and Poddar Pigments hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Revathi Equip, Megastar Foods, Premier Ltd, Morarjee Text and Golden Tobacco hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
