Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.26%

The Nifty IT index closed 0.26 per cent down at 33579.4.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of MphasiS Ltd.(up 1.87 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 1.28 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(up 0.75 per cent) and Infosys Ltd.(up 0.32 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 5.87 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 1.34 per cent), Coforge Ltd.(down 1.28 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.93 per cent) and Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 0.7 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 0.26 per cent down at 33579.4.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 223.46 points at 22643.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 941.12 points at 74671.28.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 ended in the green, while 18 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, IDFC First Bank, Indian Renewable and Bank of Maharashtra were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Archidply Ind, Supreme Ind., Lloyds Steels, Aegis Logistics and SMC Global Secur hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MPS Infotecnics, Atal Realtech, Future Supply Chain, Gloster and Popular Vehicles hit their fresh 52-week lows.
