Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.06% in a weak market

Persistent Systems Ltd.(down 1.66 per cent), L&T Technology Services Ltd.(down 1.44 per cent), LTIMindtree Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.43 per cent) and Wipro Ltd.(down 0.4 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.06 per cent at 32492.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 514.25 points at 22749.65, while the BSE Sensex was down 1692.0 points at 74776.78.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, RattanIndia Power, NHPC, YES Bank and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Heritage Foods, E2E Networks, RattanIndia Power, Ujaas Energy and Viceroy Hotels hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Filatex Fashions, Ibull Housing Fin(PP), Oriental Carbon, Vaxtex Cotfab and Sintex Plastics Tech hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
