Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.87%
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.87 per cent down at 47069.45.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Thursday.Shares of Bank of Baroda(up 1.69 per cent), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(up 1.26 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 0.78 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(up 0.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank Ltd.(down 2.66 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.12 per cent), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.09 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 0.97 per cent) and State Bank of India(down 0.92 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.87 per cent down at 47069.45.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 152.06 points at 21995.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 454.69 points at 72488.99.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 ended in the green, while 41 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Jio Financial Servic, Tata Steel and Motherson Sumi were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of AAA Technologies, Exicom Tele-Systems, NGL Fine Chem, Just Dial and Bhagiradha Chem hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MEP Infrastructure, Ibull Housing Fin(PP), Keerti Knowledge, GIR Natureview and BDR Buildcon hit their fresh 52-week lows.
