Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.48%
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.48 per cent up at 49291.9.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Thursday.Shares of State Bank of India(up 3.45 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 3.43 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 1.69 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(up 0.97 per cent) and HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 0.51 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Au Small Finance Bank Ltd.(down 1.35 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent), Axis Bank Ltd.(down 1.15 per cent) and Federal Bank Ltd.(down 0.91 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.48 per cent up at 49291.9.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 201.06 points at 22821.4, while the BSE Sensex stood up 692.27 points at 75074.51.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 14 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, BHEL and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Wendt India, Nava Bharat Vent., Va Tech Wabag, Authum Investment and Minda Ind. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, Morarjee Text, Compuage Infocom, Atal Realtech and Neueon Towers hit their fresh 52-week lows.
