Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.42%

On the other hand, Bandhan Bank Ltd.(down 1.17 per cent), IDFC First Bank Ltd.(down 0.45 per cent), State Bank of India(down 0.43 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 0.33 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 0.23 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.42 per cent up at 48971.65.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 10.56 points at 22957.1, while the BSE Sensex stood down 7.65 points at 75410.39.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 ended in the green, while 36 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, JP Power, NHPC and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Aegis Logistics, Finolex Cables, Paras Defence and Inox Wind Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Veranda Learning Sol, Revathi Equipment, Future Supply Chain, Atal Realtech and Megastar Foods hit their fresh 52-week lows.
