Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.83%
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.83 per cent down at 22114.0.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.Shares of Eicher Motors Ltd.(up 0.51 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 4.14 per cent), TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 3.76 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 3.37 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 3.14 per cent) and Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.73 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 1.83 per cent down at 22114.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 140.21 points at 22302.5, while the BSE Sensex stood down 383.69 points at 73511.85.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, PNB and Zomato were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Selan Expl Tech, Allsec Tech, Arvind Ltd, Godrej Consumer and Century Enka hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Signpost India, Atal Realtech, Future Supply Chain, Best Agrolife and Authum Investment hit their fresh 52-week lows.
