Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.66% in a weak market

Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd.(down 2.49 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.96 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 1.6 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 1.32 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.03 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.66 per cent at 21707.85 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 139.5 points at 22379.9, while the BSE Sensex was down 498.74 points at 73746.16.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 8 were trading in the green, while 42 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SAIL, NHPC and Indian Railway Fin were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Senco Gold, Par Drugs & Chemical, Selan Expl Tech, Ashiana Housing and Aster DM Health hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Infomedia Press, Penta Gold, MEP Infrastructure, Gopal Snacks and Best Agrolife hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
