Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.5%
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.5 per cent down at 22759.85.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.Shares of Bharat Forge Ltd.(up 1.52 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(up 1.43 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(up 1.17 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(up 0.41 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 0.28 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Bosch Ltd.(down 2.97 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.8 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.79 per cent), Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 1.72 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 1.64 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.5 per cent down at 22759.85.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 17.3 points at 22200.55, while the BSE Sensex stood down 117.58 points at 72987.03.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 ended in the green, while 27 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, Canara Bank and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Kirloskar Bros., Kirloskar Pneumatic, ABB Power, D-Link(India)and Associated Alch hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Butterfly Gandhi, Future Supply Chain, GSS Infotech, Mask Investments and GIR Natureview hit their fresh 52-week lows.
