Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.47% in a weak market

MRF Ltd.(down 1.34 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.06 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.9 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.61 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(down 0.58 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.47 per cent at 23646.5 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 108.25 points at 22596.45, while the BSE Sensex was down 338.16 points at 74164.74.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 were trading in the green, while 37 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, IRB Infra Dev., Motherson Sumi, Tata Steel and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Exicom Tele-Systems, Emami, Heritage Foods, KNR Constructions and Suprajit Engg hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Revathi Equipment, Borosil, Eurotex Ind, Raj Television and Keerti Knowledge hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
