Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.17% in a weak market

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.72 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.(down 0.9 per cent), Apollo Tyres Ltd.(down 0.19 per cent), Ashok Leyland Ltd.(down 0.07 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.06 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.17 per cent at 25322.45 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 75.91 points at 24226.25, while the BSE Sensex was down 393.98 points at 79655.69.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 were trading in the green, while 14 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, Rail Vikas Nigam, Suzlon Energy and NBCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Landmark Prop, BEML, Ahluwalia Contracts, Shilpa Medicare and Kronox Lab Sciences hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Future Supply Chain, MEP Infrastructure, Praxis Home Retail, Filatex Fashions and Remsons Ind hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
