Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.02% in an upbeat market

Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 1.49 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.73 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.66 per cent), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.56 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.26 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.02 per cent at 23844.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 2.46 points at 22965.2, while the BSE Sensex was up 44.01 points at 75462.05.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Indian Railway Fin, NHPC and Rail Vikas Nigam were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of JohnsonCtrls Hitachi, Finolex Cables, Bharat Dynamics, Cochin Shipyard and Sheetal Cool hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Revathi Equipment, Mask Investments, Melstar Info, Asian Hotels and IndInfravit Trust hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
