Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.61% in an upbeat market

Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.83 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 0.59 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(down 0.15 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.61 per cent at 24545.5 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 226.1 points at 23047.5, while the BSE Sensex was up 786.08 points at 75860.59.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 were trading in the green, while 6 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, RattanIndia Power, IRB Infra Dev. and NHPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Zenith Exports, Cords Cable Ind, AdityaBirlaMoney, HPL Electric Power and Avanti Feeds hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Neueon Towers, Compuage Infocom, Morarjee Text, Future Supply Chain and Ambica Agarbathi hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
