Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.3% in a weak market

Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.1 per cent), Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.59 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(down 0.56 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.46 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was up 0.3 per cent at 25378.6 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 72.86 points at 24251.6, while the BSE Sensex was down 303.15 points at 79621.62.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 27 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, NHPC, SCI and IRFC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Mallcom(India), JHS Svendgaard Retai, SCI, HPL Electric Power and SCI Land and Assets hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while SecUR Credentials, JP Associates, Praxis Home Retail, Shyam Telecom and Sarthak Metals hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
